Mangal dosha

Not present — Mars stands 1st from the Lagna. Cancelled: Jupiter conjoins or aspects Mars.

Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th, counted from the Lagna and, in the stricter reading, from the Moon and Venus. Read for marriage; the usual remedy is a partner with the same dosha, and the cancellations above are the ones most texts agree on.

Kaal Sarp

Not present — Moon stands on the far side of the Rahu–Ketu axis, which breaks it. Rahu is in the 1st, where it would have been the Anant form.

Every classical planet hemmed between Rahu and Ketu. Not in the old texts at all — it is a twentieth-century reading — but asked about so often that it is better answered than left out.

Sade Sati

Moon in Taurus; Saturn now in Pisces, 11th from it. Neither Sade Sati nor a dhaiya is running.

Saturn's seven and a half years over the twelfth sign, the Moon's sign and the second: rising, peak, setting. Found by scanning Saturn's sidereal sign to the day; a retrograde dip back out at either end is merged in, as the tradition counts it. The fourth and eighth from the Moon are the shorter dhaiyas.
